Raw Ambergris
We offer 3 grades of ambergris; black, brown or white.
White ambergris is esteemed as the highest grade, commanding the highest price. It boasts a well-rounded, delicately soft, sweet, marine scent, distinctly superior to its brown and black counterparts. Similar to a well-aged red wine reaching its peak after maturation, white ambergris left to ‘cure’ for many years often appears as a dusty bright white piece.
Brown ambergris, the most versatile among the three grades, is ideal for various uses. It is particularly recommended for novice perfumers, as it encompasses many valuable qualities found in both black and white ambergris. Brown ambergris is characterized by its woodier, tobacco-like notes.
Black ambergris, considered the lowest grade, serves well for experimental purposes. It allows individuals to explore its potential in formulating products such as perfumes and aromatherapy oils. Renowned for its pungent, strong odor—more fecal than brown or white ambergris—black ambergris is often soft in texture, representing its most primitive form.
